We experience times of joy and happiness so sweet that it hurts. And we endure times of pain, loss, and betrayal that plunge us into darkness. It is the happy times that make us come alive, enabling us to appreciate what God has given to us through His Grace and the human love of others. The dark, painful times are necessary. They can be cleansing — allowing the dross in our lives to surface and be discarded.
